Not just for the copywriters, ChatGPT can be a useful tool for anyone who is working with information (think creative brainstorming, securing recommendations, keyword generation, code, and even proofreading/editing). Instead of thinking of it as a tool that will do the work for you, see it as something that can help kickstart whatever scale of project you might be working on.
How to use it best?
It’s all about the prompts
The more descriptive, the better. Think about the questions you’re asking it, and include as much information as possible. You still have to do the work! Be as clear as you possibly can as it’s a machine, not a human and does not fill in the blanks (and even if it does, it might not be in the way you’d like it to!).
Understand its limitations
Not a fact-rich machine, you can’t take any of ChatGPT’s output as Bible (the information it pulls can be outdated!). You still have to vet what it spits out - it’s not going to EVERYTHING for you.
Verb it up
Tell it what you want through action words. Do you want it to “write” something? “List”? “Recommend”? “Outline”? “Explain”? This will make your results much more tailored to what you’re actually looking for.
Give detail
ChatGPT is not a mind reader (or a human). So, you have to give it as much information and detail to get the most amount of information and detail you want back. Think of ChatGPT as you would a new friend who doesn’t have the insight and context an old friend would. The more knowledge they have about a situation (or the question you’re asking), the more insightful (and valuable) the answer will be.
Every “designer”, “wannabe designer”, and “doesn’t want to be designing, but has to design something’s” dream, Canva makes creating visual assets, well, fairly magical. We don’t throw the word “magic” around loosely; Canva’s assortment of tools that live within its Magic Studio: Magic Eraser, Magic Design, Magic Edit, Magic Grab, and much more, are endlessly valuable AND user-friendly.
Magic Studio Stand-Outs
Magic Eraser
Does what it says. Removes design elements just like an eraser would without impacting the background (erase pesky light switches from a room image, people you’d rather not include in a picture, a logo on a shirt, the list goes on).
Magic Morph
Makes text and shapes more dynamic. Imagine converting flat, 2D text into something 3D and special that’s more worthy of someone stopping and saying oooh.
Magic Write
Spruces up copy through prompts. Proofread/edit, change tone, make copy short and sweet, and even add a little pizazz through a rewrite.
Magic Grab
Move, resize, and edit design elements of your choosing without having to alter everything. Feel like the house in your design looks to small, simply click and expand it to the size you envision!
Magic Edit
Allows you to edit specific design elements (think: moving/removing/replacing things in just a click or two). Don’t want Aunt Ellen and Aunt Pauline standing next to the trees in your design? Move them on over!
If you find yourself in back-to-back meetings throughout the week with little time to spare, the last thing you need is leaving those meetings with incomplete notes. Any action items? You were leading the meeting, so you only remember 50% of them. An outline to share back with the other participants? You don’t have a moment during your meeting heavy calendar to put it together and share it out with everyone involved. Otter solves this by serving as the designated note taker. Otter is that friend you borrow your class notes from. Except now you don’t have to whisper across the classroom, you can just rely on Otter to deliver the transcript, summary, outline, and action items. This allows everyone in the meeting to serve as a top notch, active participant, and also allows you to ensure that the follow-through post-meeting reflects the value of the meeting itself.
Although Otter is imperfect, the in real-time captured transcripts can be easily edited following the output to ensure premium accuracy. It can also be integrated into multiple platforms, like Zoom, Google Meet, as well as calendars.
There’s no denying, a person can capture nuances in the meeting that an auto-transcriber cannot. A person can detect accents, filter out background noise, and cut through the inevitable talking over one another that happens when everyone gets involved in the conversation. Having said that, it’s a wonderful tool to support the entire team to make sure meetings are maximized and not seen as a chore!
