Coming from a family of gifted athletes, it’s no surprise that Sarah Nurse found her calling on the ice. However, her success is not just a product of natural talent but years of hard work, perseverance, and dedication. Since making her debut for Team Canada in 2011, she has built an impressive resume, cementing herself as one of the most impactful players in the game today.
Olympic Glory & Record-Breaking Moments
This Dulcedo Athlete played a key role in Team Canada’s unforgettable Gold Medal victory at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. She made history by setting the record for most points (18) and most assists (13) in a single Olympic tournament, earning her a spot on the tournament All-Star Team. Prior to that, she was instrumental in Canada’s Silver Medal finish at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics.
Her international success doesn’t stop there. Nurse also helped Canada capture a dramatic overtime victory against Team USA at the 2021 IIHF World Championship, adding a gold medal to her already impressive collection. Over the years, she has continued to dominate on the world stage, earning Silver and Bronze medals at the World Championships.
A Leader in Hockey and Beyond
Beyond her achievements on the ice, Sarah Nurse is a powerful advocate for diversity and inclusion in hockey. As one of the few women of color in professional women’s hockey, she has been vocal about the need for greater representation and opportunities within the sport. Her leadership extends to her role on the board of the Professional Women's Hockey Player Association (PWHPA), where she is working to create a sustainable, high-level professional women’s hockey league in North America.
