Meta Verified: What You Need To Know

Social Media, Trends

Meta Verified is a new paid subscription service by Meta, the company formerly known as Facebook, aimed at helping creators boost their presence on Instagram and Facebook. This bundle provides several benefits, including impersonation monitoring, government ID account authentication, increased visibility and reach, and live chat customer support, among others. Additionally, subscribers gain access to exclusive features like stickers on Instagram and Facebook Stories and Facebook Reels.

While some users are receptive to increased protection and support, others worry about social media becoming “pay-to-play.” As a result, Meta Verified is currently being tested only in Australia and New Zealand to gauge its viability as a solution to user requests.

To be eligible for Meta Verified, creators must meet certain criteria, including being at least 18 years old, having a profile associated with their full name and a profile picture that includes their face, having a government-issued ID that matches their name and picture, and meeting minimum activity requirements. Business profiles are currently ineligible for Meta Verified.

The cost of Meta Verified is $11.99 (USD) a month on the web and $14.99 (USD) a month on iOS and Android systems. Creators must authenticate their account with a government ID to verify their identity, and verification must be repeated if they change their profile name, username, date of birth, or photo. Meta will not make changes to accounts that are already verified, but legacy verified accounts’ follower counts will be displayed in more places to distinguish them from Meta Verified accounts.

While some may find Meta Verified’s services valuable, others are wary of paying for what they believe should be free. Additionally, the idea that paid subscribers may receive increased reach requires clarification. However, Meta is still testing the service and will only launch it if it proves successful. The company has also acknowledged past missteps and appears willing to learn from them. We will keep you updated on any developments regarding Meta Verified.
